At least, that's the mindset in Germany...
http://www.dw-world.de/english/0,336...88_1_A,00.html DaimlerChrysler threatened to relocate jobs if workers didn't agree to work 40 hours a week..... no wonder German cars are expensive Quote:

No thanks, I'll keep my 3. I think I read somewhere that the US has one of the hightest avg. hrs worked per week; it would be interesting to see how some of the major countries compare.

That just means we have the biggest cheapskate employers in the world. Bah! I don't get paid enough.

Yeah... I can't see how some of you guys commute to work over an hour just to work 8-9 hour days to drive home another hour and waste over 1/2 your day at work.
I live 20 mins from work but I have to ready myself for a possible 40 min drive each day. After work, I come home, undwind from the stress and it's almost time for bed so I can wake up and do it again tomorrow. :cry I DID do the 10 hour-4 day a week deal for a while. It somehow sucked worse... I really need a 13.3 hr for 3 days that way I have 4 days to do all the projects around my apartment AND work on my cars.

Yeah I saw that, I've been talking about it with people all day.
Of course, you should note that they say they are willing to work additional hours for additional pay - which, as foreign as it is to myself as an office workers, is common for factory workers. That being said, saying 30+ is additional is ridiculous

Some of the departments in my company work twelve hour shifts tending CD replicators and printers. They are paid for their time and sometimes get four days off---but twleve hours days all year hurt.
